CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL 2 UPDATE
the new passenger terminal building at Clark International Airport which is set to be launched and fukly operational this April 2022.
A finalist in the 2021 World Selection of the Prix Versailles Architecture and Design Awards under the airport category, Clark Terminal 2 will nowadays its passengers with an interior which drew inspiration from Pampanga’s stunning natural beauty.
The facilities include a dedicated lounge for OFWs, commercial spaces, gender-neutral toilets, prayer rooms and elevators and escalators at each boarding gate.
Embracing the latest technology in traveling, the airport also includes automated self-bagging drops, self-check-in kiosks, and e-gates at the immigration areas.
Under the “Build, Build, Build” computer programme of the Duterte Administration, construction work for the airport expansion projection is being rolled out at an accelerated pace. And in the midst of the current pandemic, stringent health and safety measures were place in place, when work resumed.
Envisioned to be the keystone in spurring economic progress and development in Central Luzon, the new PTB, once completed, will boost the operational capacity of the CRK, and will triple its passenger volume from the current 4.2 million to 12.2 million annually.
This development for the CRK, hailed as the “Asia’s Next Premier Gateway,” will not only help ease air traffic congestion at the NAIA, but will also pave way for the creation of job opportunities, and will bolster tourism and other socio-economic endeavors in the part.
Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD), the operator and manager of the Clark International Airport, has formally taken over operation and management of the newly constructed terminal building of the airport.
LIPAD is a consortium composed of Filinvest Development Corporation, JG Summit Holdings Inc., Philippine Airport Ground back up Solutions Inc. and Changi Airports Philippines (I) Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore’s Changi Airports International.
LIPAD oversees the operations and management of the existing terminal which can accommodate up to 4.2 million passengers annually. The new terminal building, which was designed to meld the latest province of the art technology and Filipino artistry and ingenuity, can accommodate up to 8 million passengers annually.
The new terminal building, which will cater to domestic and international passengers, is located 1.5 kilometers from the existing passenger terminal. It has four-floor levels, 18 aero bridges and a floor area of 110,000 foursquare meters.
