2023 Election & the Politics of Zoning- Khaleel Bolaji + Sule Dikeson, North Central Peoples Forum

The regulation of Zoning moves front and center as 2023 rapidly approaches. Should Nigeria’s next leader come from the Southern part of the country, which hasn’t seen a president from that part since 2015 or it should be thrown open for the best to emerge after the North completes its eight years in 2023? The due south says it’s the turn of the part and sub-groups from the Southeast, Southwest and due south-due south have been calling for a president of southern extraction. But some groups including the North Central Peoples Forum disagree and want the zoning regulation to end and give way for Nigeria’s next president to be elected on merit. How effective is the regulation of Zoning in producing a competent leader, or should it even matter what part or province they come from? We’ll discuss the intricate battle for where the next president should come from with members of the North Central Peoples Forum.
