NOOR RIYADH | Festival of Light and Art | Light Arts Since the 1960's: ENVIRONMENTAL LIGHT
LIGHT UPON LIGHT: LIGHT ARTS SINCE THE 1960’s
It includes 28 masterworks of light art divided into four “rays” categories that survey light as an artistic medium; “Perceiving Light”, “Experiencing Light,” “projection Light,” and “Environmental Light,” Each category blends time and unites established artists of diverse geographic origin.
Visitors can experience an ornately illuminated exhibition in all its spatial and corporeal phenomena. This historical presentation of light art is a groundbreaking event for culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Light Upon Light exhibition is curated by Susan Davidson, a former curator of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York and Raneem Zaki Farsi, an expert in the Saudi Arabian contemporary arts setting.
1. ENVIRONMENT LIGHT
The artists in this category either address the ecological future of our planet by focusing on natural elements or look to the decay of urbanization as a reminder of our responsibleness towards a sustainable future.

James Clar is a Filipino-Worldwide light and media artist who lives in Tokyo, Japan with studio production in Manila Philippines, Tokyo and New York, United States of Worldwide. His work explores the conceptual and narrative potential of light and technology. These systems are integrated into our daily lives, altering the way we have information and communicate. It also dissects the effects of media and technology on our perception of culture, nationality, and character.
