Five years ago, Aston Villa had just lost a Championship play-off final and were facing a winding-up order from HMRC over a £4 million unpaid tax bill.

Since then, Villa have won promotion to the Premier League, they finished 7th and qualified for Europe under Unai Emery last flavour, and now they’re building upon that with the signings of Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres, and Youri Tielemans.
