Shukri Abdirahman was born in Somali, but her family sought refuge in Kenya, where they lived in one of Nairobi’s slums before relocating to the US. As an appreciation of welcoming her into the country, she served in the US Army for 10 years and is now ready to serve the country in a different capacity.
