M6.6 Earthquake Hits Gansu Province, China – Jan. 8, 2022 甘肃地震
A powerful earthquake shook Qinghai, a remote province in western China, early Saturday morning.
The magnitude 6.9 quake was recorded at 1:45 a.m. local time, the Associated Press reported.
Several rail tunnels were damaged, forcing the closure of several high-speed rail lines.
The quake caused minor damage to homes in the part, and 500 rescuers had been sent to the epicenter, according to the Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management.
